A Message From St. Francisville UMC
Dear Church Family,
Like all of you, the leadership and staff of St. Francisville United Methodist Church have been making our plans for how to respond to the pandemic coronavirus COVID19 in a way that promotes the safety of our community. Slowing the spread is our top priority, because doing so will save lives.
In view of the present crisis, and the recommendations coming from State and National leaders, we have decided to make the following changes: -Sunday Worship Services will not meet for the next 3 weeks (March 22, 29, and April 5) -The Egg Hunt and church picnic will not happen on March 29 -The first week of April we will decide whether further cancellations are needed, or whether we can go forward with the Good Friday and Easter Schedule -Regular Children & Youth activities will remain suspended at least until April 13 -Recovery Groups will make their own determination as to whether to continue meeting -The Schedule for Financial Peace University will be adjusted; we will be in touch with participants after we talk with Ramsey Solutions -The UM Men’s breakfast will not meet on April 4 -CHASE Daycare will remain open for the time being, but may close if the State or the CHASE Committee feels that the situation warrants a closure
What comes next? Even though we will not be gathering in-person, as is our habit, we are still the Church, and we will still be doing the ministry God has called us to do: -Each Sunday Rev. Daniel will release a video message with Prayers and Scriptures so that we can virtually connect and honor God on the Sabbath day -We will use Social Media and Email to remain connected, sharing Scriptures and Prayers and Encouragement as we continue to pass through this wilderness season -Church staff will still be working, though partly from home; you may reach us at the Church office 225-635-3763, or you can call Rev. Daniel Hixon at 318-791-3486, Tudy McCann the Church Administrator at 225-572-3329 or John Bel the Facilities Manager at 985-969-5787 -The Church will continue, as we always do, to give financial help to needy families from our church and our community, especially those who have trouble paying for their basic needs because of the impact of COVID19
Though we may all be partly homebound in the coming weeks, we encourage all our members to pray for one another, get out that church directory and call one another to check on each other, and please report any needs that you hear about to the staff.
Those who are able to can still give offerings as a concrete act of worship and trust, either mailing a check to the office (PO Box 2908, St. Francisville, 70775) or by giving online at the GIVE tab at the top of this page.
Clearly this is an extraordinary time we are living through, and so we pray that God will fill everyone with wisdom and patience and flexibility, even as we all hang on to that ancient prayer: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me…” (Psalm 23:4).
Please let us know if there is anything we can help you with, or if you have more questions.
Walk in God’s peace: May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God, and the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
-Rev. Daniel Hixon
